Fundraising Event Consultant
Before Kevin arrives at your event, he works with you to plan it. Every booking includes a pre-event consultation where Kevin reviews your lot list, audience profile, venue layout, and fundraising target — then gives you specific recommendations on running order, reserve pricing, and which segments will raise the most on the night. This is not a generic checklist. It is a conversation with someone who has raised over £10 million for charitable causes and knows what works in a room.
How Kevin Structures a Fundraising Evening
The very first question I’ll ask as your Event Fundraising Consultant is: what are the top three most important aspects of your event, in order of priority? Typically, they are fundraising, entertainment, and networking. If fundraising is your number one focus—as it is for most charities—then the entire event must be built around making it easy, enjoyable, and compelling for your guests to give. Here’s how we’ll do that together.
Creating an effective fundraising strategy is vital because it turns a good cause into a memorable, high-impact event that truly maximises support. Without a clear plan, even the most passionate guests can leave feeling uncertain about how or why to give.
A well-thought-out strategy sets the tone, guides the energy in the room, and seamlessly blends entertainment with fundraising, making generosity feel natural and enjoyable. It ensures that every speech, auction, and pledge opportunity is perfectly timed to inspire donations, helping you reach or exceed your goals while leaving a lasting, positive impression on your supporters.
Opening speech and ice breaker
A strong start sets the tone for the whole night. Kevin recommends beginning with a warm welcome from your charity’s CEO to establish the cause and make everyone feel connected. He then runs a quick icebreaker to warm the room up before any fundraising begins, so guests arrive at the auction already engaged rather than cold.
Raffle sales
Raffle tickets are best sold in bundles, for example, 10 tickets for £50 rather than £5 each. Guests spend more when they perceive value in the bundle, and the maths is simpler on the night. Kevin handles ticket sales himself during the drinks reception or dinner so your committee does not have to.
Live Auction
After desserts, the evening moves into the main fundraising section. This begins with an emotive share or video that reminds everyone why they are there. Kevin then runs the live auction from the floor, not the podium, using energy, humour, and competitive framing to push bids above reserve.
Live Pledge
When the live auction concludes, Kevin resets the energy and reconnects the room with the charity’s purpose before launching into the live pledge. This is often the highest-earning segment of the night. Three giving tiers, each linked to a tangible outcome, give every guest a way to participate, regardless of how much they bid in the auction.
Raffle Draw
If you’re holding a raffle, I recommend not taking the time to announce each winner. This can be displayed via a winner’s list at each table or by attaching winning tickets to prizes. This is much quicker than announcing each winner one-by-one, allowing you to keep the energy up and move seamlessly into the final entertainment segment — without losing guests’ attention or time.
Silent Auction Close
If you are hosting a silent auction, Kevin runs a live countdown to the close. Treating the final moments like a real-time auction, with Kevin on the mic building tension, consistently drives a last-minute surge in bids from guests who had been sitting on the fence. The consultation is included as standard when you book Kevin, not charged as an extra.
